I have been teaching for 28 years, and this is my 24th year as an educator with Tahoe Truckee. Throughout my career, I have taught 5th, 6th, and 8th grade. In addition, I was an Academic Coach for the district for three years. This experience added greatly to my knowledge and understanding of best teaching practices. I am excited to teach 6th grade again this year as it is my favorite. 6th graders are still playful and silly, yet their brains are ready for so much. Helping your child grow and thrive in middle school is my priority.
I am a Wisconsin native, but I grew up in Reno and Santa Rosa through high school. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology, which gave me foundations in history, mythology, and philosophy. My graduate-level credential preparation certificate is from San Jose State. I am recently married to my amazing wife, Kahlil Johnson, and we enjoy an adventure-filled life here and abroad. I love to ski (nordic and alpine), bike (mountain and road), scuba dive, sup, camp, backpack, travel, cook, play guitar and ukelele, and read. Finally I have the best golden retriever in the world, Jake, with whom I explore the mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests that surround us. |
